Pram/stroller Nappy/diaper cake

Designed for a work colleague same as the card in the post previous to this! This took a long time to complete (12hrs) due to the waiting for paint to dry effect! The body of the pram/stroller was made by recycling a shoe box, ideally I needed 2 but I only had the one so had to be creative! I used the lid of the box to make the pram/stroller hood, I them glued a piece of card over the top of the lid to create an arch and then glued card down the sides, once all dry and in place. I decopatched the whole box, hood and all with printing paper then once dried I painted it pink (give away to the babies sex!). The handle was also recycled - made from the inside tube from wrapping paper cut down the middle, rolled tighter and adhered to the box by brads and hot glue and wrapped in ribbon.

The cake comprised of:

40 nappies/diapers these made the wheels
Roses and fur to decorate the wheel centres
Fluffy blanket.
Fluffy rabbit toy
Cotton wrap cloth (over the pram/stroller hood)
Baby vest/onesie
2 baby bottles
Cuddly Cat - dressed in babies sleep suit and bib
Mouse rattle
Babies first socks
Drool cloths
and a bath thermometer
Ribbon to decorate

The best thing about this gift was the pram/stroller had bounce!

Leaving to have a baby card

I designed this card for a work colleague who left today to enjoy maternity leave before her baby arrives on or around 26th December. Just over 4 weeks. She will be dearly missed as she is the receptionist! A smile to greet you everyday (Mon-Fri anyway). The card was designed using new arrivals on the cricut cut at 7inches tall (I cut 2 and cut a hole in the bump of the second one and placed a photo of her scan within. I designed the leaving to have a baby using Scrap Artist and the silhouette of the pregnant woman was taken from:

which I placed facing left and right throughout the page. I matted and layered it onto card, inked the edges, added ribbon, made three bows which desended in size. To get the effect. Am very happy with how the card turned out, and the reaction on the mum to be's face was a picture.

To my groom card wedding card

I was commissioned to design and make a card for a friend who was getting married on 5th November. She asked for an elegant card without the fluffy look! Which also captured fireworks night!

Right a challenge, I was up for it! Here is what I came up with.........a trifold card on its side. Added an extra panel. A few embellishments and whallah!

Anniversary card for my sister and brother in law

My sister usually always gets her cards late, well that is after an event.... this year she got it within the month of her anniversary! I'm improving!

I saw this card design on create and craft when they were demonstrating the Hougie Board. So, I thought that I would replicate it as it looked elegant! Ideal for an anniversary. I added a punched trim (Martha Stewart) to the envelope edges, cut out the happy aniversary on the cricut. Punched some leaves and added some mulberry flowers which have been spritzed! The topper was matted and layered.

Bookatrix birthday card for my fiances mother

Made this card using the bookatrix embossing board, bunched some dry flowers tied them with a ribbon and placed them onto a flower. Embellished with peel offs boarder and lettering. Made a box to fit the card.

Birthday card for our line dancing Instructor

In the village where I live we have been learning line dancing (modern) not just to country music but all varieties of music. We surprised her with a birthday party and I was asked to design the card, using my cricut this was my end product, which am pleased to say went down well and has been framed.
I inked the card to give it the stressed look. Embellished with brads half a wish bone cake decoration for the stirup and doodled around certain areas.

Retirement card for a teacher

I was commissioned to design this card by a work colleague for a friend of his who was retiring from teaching.

I used George and basic shapes to cut the prohibited sign and basic shapes to make up the sign and cricut cartrige locker talk for the school building. I used Tim Holts masks of cogs n wheels for the background. The card was embellished with peel offs, sticker lettering, a paper clip and a pencil which finished off the look.

Christening card and gift

Christening card. Used a box canvas and covered it with paper then decorated it with a decoupage of a baby in a crib. Embellished with ribbon, feathers, lace and pearls. I used the Xyron design runner for the wording.

Lyssi's 9th birthday card

Lyssi likes Hello Kitty, so using the cricut and the Hello Kitty cartridge I made her this card. Added a few embellishments, buttons, lace, a rose and moving eyes. This card measured A4 and Lys loved it.

Lyssi's birthday party invites

Lyssi wanted to invite her friends out for a game of bowling for her birthday in July, so I designed her invites (took a while to post them!). We bought wooden shaped skittles and balls which were all cut into 2. These were then painted to resemble skittles and bowling balls. The star and the wording were cut out on the cricut and the pins placed to look like they had been struck. Used the Xyron Design Runner to add the wording to each card.

Frog Birthday Card with box

This card was made for my fiances neice for her birthday. Itwas cut out on the cricut using the gypsy and mini monsters cartridge. quick and easy to make embellished with crochet flowers, buttons and ribbon. Made a box for the frog card to be presented in, on the box lid cut a lilly pad and decorated this with a crochet flower which I stained using ink.

Are you a model? - 30th Birthday card

A work colleague requested a card for her sister, she wanted a card that depicted things said by people which she rips her sister for, to include the sayings.."are you a model (on front of the card)?" and "your a natural beauty (on the inside of the card)"... the card went down well;

I designed the card on the cricut gypsy using Alphalious for the wording cut at 1" and Rock Princess for the Model cut at 8". I used chalks and fine art pens for the shading and to add details. Mirror card was used for the shadow backings for the Model and the lettering. I added ribbon, flat backed pearls, glitter glue, punched flowers and mini gem butterflies to embellish the card both inside and out. The retro card used on this card and to line the envelope was a good buy from Lidl, bought when they had scrap booking items on offer! It really set the idea for the card and enhanced the look! I'm really pleased with the over all look!

May bug 1st Birthday Card

This card was designed on the cricut gypsy using the mini monsters cartridge, it was designed especially for a special lil' boy who turned one on May 20th.

Shadowed using Tim Holtz distressed inks, and a white pencil crayon; buttons, tags, and brads added as embellishments, and a rub on birthday message. The card went down well. lots of fun had putting this card together.

Mad Hatters - Well one anyway!

On the 29th April the Royal Wedding day, the village where I live had a full day of activities put on for all in the community to come and enjoy.

There was a 'mad hatters', hat competition in the evening.

I dressed three hats, and the bowling green one won!!! My fella is the green keeper, he mows the lawn trying to keep it in tip-top condition; but he also plays bowls! Therefore the hat depicted him!

The hat was an old fishing hat, I used a donut ring and covered it in felt to make the green; I cut grass from card and placed this all around the donut to hide the edges of the felt, followed by a ribbon. I stuck 4 pom-poms on top of the green to depict 3 woods and the jack! I then designed and cut out the lawn mower using GBS on the Gypsy. Added brads for the wheels and ribbon, and embillishments.

The hat took just over an hour to design and put together and now stands proudly in the trophy cabinet of the bowls club!

Gift for mum!

A for Amelia, a gift for mum Lisa from her husband, he forwarded me the babies very first photo which has been used here.

The A is MDF already coated in a white covering. I used baby pale pink paper which I drew around the A and added a rub on message;

'A new baby is like the beginning of all things - wonder, hope, a dream of possibilities'

A few flowers, a feather, beads and ribbon were added to one corner and the photo to the other, along with ribbon and a single flower embellishment; confetti was placed above the arch of the A near the legs.

Lastly the gift was wrapped in pink tissue paper and fastened in baby ribbon, triple bow made!

When Lisa received the gift, she was so surprised! As she had arranged with me to make the previous gifts posted, and didn't see this one coming!

A present for the proud grandparents!

These gifts were made for my friend Lisa to give to the babies grandparents (Amelia is their1st granchild) one was also made for her great grandmother.

The baby lettering is made from MDF (bought) which I painted using baby pink acrylic paint on the inside and on the back (3 layers used on each, it didn't half soaked up the paint)!

To get the lettering I used 4 differnet sheets of patterned paper and drew around the baby on each sheet, then cut them out, adhering the papers to the MDF. They slotted together perfectly!

I added flowers, ribbons and beads to the bottom B and the A. The 2 scan pictures (12 and 20 weeks) were framed and added, (I have added the 2 different designs), lettering rub ons added to the pale papers. Babies first decent picture following her birth adhered to the middle; skittles and confetti also added.

Lastly each baby keepsake was wrapped in tissue paper before being given to the proud grand parents (they loved their gift, it was so unexpected!)

New baby Girl card

I made this card for a friend who I met at line dancing, I was at my mums when I heard her good news (the baby arrived 2.5 weeks early!).

My sister gave me the design idea, it is an easel card with a difference, you have to put the tab to get this one to stand; she also let me raid her craft supplies and this card was designed using some free papers she received in a magazine.

The lettering was cut from quick cutz dies; ribbon, gems and added for the touch a little glitter glue to the background papers!

The card went down well, which was a joy to give.

Robotz 1st year Birthday card

This card was designed on the gypsy using the robotz cart, especially for a lil' boy who'll be turning one on the 20th May.

I used acrylic sheets 8" by 8" x 2 and thick (3mm) card x 2. I cover the card, one in robotz and the other in colourful card, the inside of the card I used plain card and edge them with cut offs.

The robot was cut at 5" and layered up; the birthday lettering was at 1" ; the #1 at 1.5" all of which were adhered to the acrylic sheet.

The little boys name was cut at 0.7" and adhered to the robot page behind the acrylic sheet.

I used my Bind it (but fastened it back to front! Doh!) to hide my error I added multiple of ribbons 2" in length to it! I used a white pencil to hightlight areas; also wobble eyes to make it fun looking!

On the inside of the card, I cut gears from off the robotz cartridge and embossed these using copper, brass and red, sticking the message 'Gear-riffic' to them also placing a picture of the little boy within. I cut another 5" blackout of the robot on the front of the card placing this inside for the message to be written upon. 2 further robotz at 2" were cut and adhered to the pages, as well as Birthday and some nuts and bolts(stickers) .

The box was made at 9" cm2 to allow room for the ribbons/binding, the lid was layered and again a blackout of the robot placed on the front for the giver to write the little ones name, along with a ribbon. The edges of the box on the insides were strengthened to make the box more durable.

Baby Boy Star Card

I designed this card for my work colleague to present to his wife as a keepsake, designed using the Gypsy and New Arrivals cart; 2 x cute boy decoupaged; lace to edge pages; buttons; pearls; ribbon (with tiny hands and tiny feet written on it); silver lettering stickers; white rub ons; charms - shoes and a teddy bear on chains; and lastly a framed picture of the baby in a tag! I like how this card turned out!

21st Birthday Card - Girly yet different!

I was crazed by a work colleague to make her a card, after knowing her for well over a year here is what I came up with, what pleased me most was the staffs reactions, they all agreed this card was my colleague 'girly' but not childish! Designed using the Gypsy Micky Mouse font for the numbers; Indie art for the key, roses, inked using distress inks - tinted rose/black; skittles; and stickers for the lettering.

I designed these cards using the new arrival cartridge from cricut! These cards were made to go with the nappy/diaper cakes! In the post previous to this! each card had an envelope designed from card to prevent them from spoling in the post!

For this card I added lace, metal embellishments (hands and feet) , ribbon (ribbon on the card read tiny hands and tiny feet!) and stickers.

For the boy onesie card I added stickers and rub ons, stickles and inked/doodled a little around the edges!

NappyDiaper Cakes, for lil' him and for lil' her!

The cake apart from nappies/diapers has, a towel; pram blanket (knitted by my neighbour and has a teddy face); dribble cloth/bib; books x3; teddy bear dressed in 3 months size onsie/trousers and socks (that say on both the socks and onsie - 'born to ride'); steering wheel toy that makes sounds; soft toy dog; jingle ball; and a snuggle cloth which is visible on the back view! Then of course you have the ribbon, and feathers for detail! This cake was designed for a work colleague, baby Jacob arrived 24th March 2011.

I made this nappy/diaper cake for my next door neighbour, again apart from the three tiers of nappies/diapers the cake comprises off: Baby towel; dribble clothes/bibs; board book; soft rattle; Soft pink teddy dressed in a baby designer outfit (dress with pettycoat and matching head band); socks (with the outline of shoes on them); shoes; a snuggle cloth which is visible on the back view! Then of course you have the ribbon plain white and then pink which reads tiny hands and tiny feet; roses and feathers for detail! Baby Evie was born end of February 2011.

Precious Memory - instead of a card!

I made this for a work colleague who lost his daughter to cancer. Made using embossed paper with Love Forever all over it in different font sizes; lace; tags; Feathers and ribbon.
I made a rose from the lace using feathers as leaves and completed the whole photo frame in white due to the purity of the child who died.

Hello all

I know in the past my cut files have been available to download for free although I asked for donations to support all the effort which has been put into creating them. A few did support this, not many!

More recently since February this year I requested people support me in my weight loss challenge as well as raise funds for my choosen charity to aid in the good work going into Autism and requested people who download consider a donation to this worthy cause. Unfortunately I have only received one donation from a very nice person who visited my blog, the other donation was from a work colleague after they viewed my before and after 14 weeks photo's on facebook.

Yet the amount of downloads of my files have now peaked in at 42,000 + and my charity fund is a joke! I'm not asking people to break the bank, I feel a donation of around £5 roughly 7.28 US dollars to this worthy cause for the cut file to be sent to your email.

First Easter Card - A new Beginning!

Designed on the Gypsy/cricut E, this card is my first in many to come!! Used Easter 2010 and A child's year to design this card as well as zig zag stitch stamp, sewing machine, and Tim Holtz distress inks! I also cut and embossed the flowers, my sister enabled me to purchase 2 sets of flower punches (she really didn't have to try hard!!) I place flat backed pearls within the centres.

Pop up Flowers - thinking of you card

It has taken a couple of weeks to make this card work, my first couple of attempts failed, but this one made all my efforts worth the time! Yeah me!! Designed in CDS using GBS and PS, this file was quiet complicated to put together, so I'm sorry to those of you who may want this file but until I can sit down and write the instructions on how to put this together I wont be posting the file! Sorry!

3D Snowflake

Designed in Cricut Design Sudio using George n Basic Shapes and Joys of the Season carts. Folds flat into an envelope, once opened the snowflake moves into the 3D postion. I placed the sentiment area on the back of the card, so the snowflake is reflected in the mirror board card. I added small crystals to the snowflake and attached ribbon.

This card looks much better in person, as I have a lot of reflection from the mirror board card.

Assembly Instructions:

Cut out all the peices using your cricut in your choice of card, you will need both GBS and JOTS carts to make this project.
Add the frame to the outside of the card.
Decorate/ink your snowflakes, includes the snowflake in the card.
Make a small cut down the side of the small cut out section, on one flake only.
Slide the 2 seperate snowflakes together using the larger cut out sections.
Slide the joined snowflakes through the snowflake attached to the card, using the small cut previously made in one of the snowflakes, slide this up the middle of the snowflake to allow the bottom of the snowflake to pass through and then slide down into place.
Decorate with your choice of embellishments.
Enjoy!!

3D Snowman, in 3 tiers

Designed using the Cricut Design Studio and George n Basic Shapes cart. I took the design from the last 3D snowman inspired by Karen Burniston, and enhanced upon it, as many snowmen have the three sections (head, chest and stomach) I wanted to see if I could do the same look; I made a broom from scraps, orange card cut several times to look like bristles, joined into the broom handle Brown card folded and fixed in place with ribbon, and adhered this to his chest next to his arm as this area is stronger. Added ribbon to the snowman to reflect a scarf and black flat pearls as pieces of coal for his facial features and buttons.

The card itself is matted and layered on the front and on the inside of the card, using both mirror card and patterned paper. I inked around the white card and used swiss dots embossing folder to add texture. Then cheated and added premade sticky embellishments (Santa and HoHoHo).

To construct, I just had to add the chest peices before I add the stomach! to make him stand/fold correctly!

3D Tree insert: He's making a list!

Maria did a fantastic job on her .cut file that I took the challenge and designed one for myself, last weekend after the snowman was such a hit!

Designed last weekend again like the 3D snowman, inspired by Karen Burniston and her sizzix die of the pop up tree. Used cricut design studio and GBS cart, this is my fourth attempt at cutting the tree as I had to make sure that the tree looked sturdy and was held together tightly without the possibility of falling apart as not held together by glue, it also had to fold flat within the card when closed. Well all accomplished as you can see. The design on the front of the card was made doing a spot of matting and layering and applying stickers which I bought a couple of years ago! I added flat backed crystals to the tree.

3D Snowman

Inspired by Karen Burniston and the Sizzix big die she had created, here is my version designed using the cricut and George n Basic Shapes cart. I decorated the snowman using black pearls to reflect pieces of coal, and cut the other items using the cricut. The snowflakes were cut from the noel cart at various sizes.

How to write text in a circle!

I have been playing around in Word and its easy! A little time playing will make my cards much more personal!

Here’s what you do if you don’t already know!

1. Open a new document
2. Click on word art and decide what style you want, enter
3. Now decide on your style of font, enter
4. Now right click onto your wording and go to format word art play with the colour until it’s what you’re after.
5. Now click on your word art and you’ll see spots! Surrounding what you have just done.
6. The word art tool bar should now be visible, click on the icon with the uppercase A and lowercase b & c also know as Word Shape Art – alternatively hover over the icons and the names of the icons will pop up!
7. Choose your shape – from the many options available!
8. Then use the stretch facilities of the spots surrounding the image and drag into place.
9. Use the bottom corner spots to resize the text shape to the required size.
10. You need to now save your document but not as a word document but as a picture.
11. Copy and paste your design into a graphics or picture programme i.e. serif
12. Go to file, ‘export’, and change the format / file extension from whatever you have to a .jpg it will then save as a picture which will look great on all your cards and layouts.
13. Happy Crafting!!

Designed in CDS using GBS after I saw a cute card made using a babies cardigan.
Used the embosing folder with the hearts to leave the impression, added ribbon; lace; dummy; a tag; a couple of stickers and did a spot of doodling!!

I wanted to be a little different this year for my sisters wedding anniversary, after all snow globes are not just for 'christmas', you can pick them up anywhere on your travels!!

I designed the snow globe in GBS making it a card with the appearance of 3D. The doves are from Beyond Birthdays and the banner from the Wedding cart. Used the cuttlebug to emboss the back page; used acetate and glitter (got a little carried away!)and made 3 ribbons of different sizes and fastened them together.

I have designed this file in CDS using GBS for a colleague who is returning to school, mad about 'Hello Kitty', sadly I don't have this cart so I designed this using the Hello Kitty cart as my guide.

Instructions

Cut out all the peices, please note in the cut file you will notice that there are two pages named dress 1 and dress 2, you will need to cut out dress 1 first then press load paper so it continues to remain within your cricut and then cut dress 2, this will cut out the flower and arm shapes from the dress. The design is a layered technique.

I saw a glimpse of an easel card on a UK craft channel and which I liked the look off, so much so I design my own cut file, a different kind of card to send to say a budding artist or in general!

Designed using GBS cart, you will need to crease above the inner legs of the easel from where the outer legs begin, which will allow this card to free stand. The small strip of card is to place your message on and should be adhered to the card using 3D foam, this strip will also be a shelf for the card to sit upon (or you simply glue the picture on!). Update, I spoke with the Dr today and asked after Annelous, he told me that her condition was organic therefore terminal and they have been told her seventh birthday will be her last, I'd like to thank those of you who have sent cards, I have received a few already and shall ensure these are passed on to her.

Please keep this little girls spirits raised and with each card she opens gives her the drive to continue, she has begun talking about death more openly with her family which is becoming more emotionally stressful for the them as her condition deteriorates.

Designed on the cricut design studio using GBS, I heard about exploding handbag cards and liked the thought of them so I designed my own template on CDS. They simply go inside each other (like an exploding box) and the flap tucks into the slot.

Double Slider Friendship Card

Another Double slider card, this is smaller than the last and will fit into a C6 envelope.

Instructions on how to make this card:

1. Cut a piece of card 29.5 cm x 14 cm
2. Score at the following intervals: 9.5 cm; 19 cm; and at 28.5 cm.
3. Cut 2 pieces 14 cm x 8.5 cm
4. Cut a piece of plastic carrier bag measuring 3 cm x 30 cm
5. Wrap this around the end panel, which doesn't have the tuck flap on it and adhere into place - not to tight - to fit comfortably, remove any access.
6. Using double side sticky tape fix the side panels into place (good idea to carry out your layering before adhering). Place 1 facing up and the other facing down, check before securing to ensure in correct position!
7. Using double sided tape adhere to the flap, placing the side panel within the tuck to allow movement, and secure into place.
8. Decorate, and add ribbon / tassel to act as a pulley!

Optional:

To cut away using a circle punch a semi circle in the middle of the end panel without the flap to allow for easy access to the ribbon / tassel

Double Slider Christmas card

My sister Shell showed me a card, and asked me to pull the ribbon on the right hand side of the card, to my awe the card expanded not just the right side but from the left side also. It reveiled a place where you write a message along with another picture. Shell then dismantled it to show me how this worked: recycled strip of plastic wrapped around the the third panel, having two separate cards slightly smaller than the actual card panels each then adheared to the plastic one faced up and the other faced downwards, closed together by a small flap adheared to the inside of the card, tucking the card peice into the flap before adhearing allowing the card peices to slide freely.

Instructions on how to make this card:

1. Cut a piece of card 38.5 cm x 23 cm
2. Score at the following intervals: 12.5 cm; 22 cm; and at 31.5 cm.
3. cut 2 pieces 17 cm x 11.5 cm
4. Cut a piece of plastic carrier bag measuring 6 cm x 46 cm
5. Wrap this around the end panel, which doesn't have the tuck flap on it and adhere into place - not to tight - to fit comfortably, remove any access.

Alyssa's no longer silly six! She is now sensible 7!

I used The Tinker Bell and Alphalicious carts to design this card, inked and coloured Tink. Added some prima flowers and skittles to the middles, Lyssi loved it. Although a school day, Lys had the day off 'with permission', to attend the Norfolk Show - she loved it. The best part of her day she said was watching the farmer sheer his sheep, not 1 but 5 times, I was baked and frazzled as the temperatures in Norfolk sored into the 30's, but we had to watch all 5!

This is my first attempt at making these flowerpot cards, but I had taken the pictures on my phone and couldn't remember how to retreive them. I made this card for a work colleague who received an injury while at work. I used some fabric flowers held together with brads; sprayed leaves; the ribbon is Tilda; edges inked using dark brown; and I added dragonfly brads. The insert has Basic grey lettering. I used the cut file previously posted.

The Animal Shelter

I've enjoyed doing this task for the Animal Shelter for The Lime Light, and have many more ideas for it, some of which include using cut files previously shown on here. If you feel you can help, please do this Task is open to anyone and everyone.

All donations will go to the animal shelters to sell so that they can make money for food, toys, & the overall upkeep.

Lets, not just be making cards do something different, think about making:

cards & matching envelopes (no restrictions what you put on them – think customer, what would you buy?)
scrapbook pages in standard 6x6, 8x8, or 12 x 12 sizes
mats for standard 4x6, 5x7, or 8x10 photos (like the scrapbook pages, all they would have to do it paste the picture on top)
bookmarks
treat snack bags / boxes
mini albums
more importantly your ideas coming to life!

I made this card for a work colleague who had recently lost a friend, in rememberance, only to find out that it was a male friend she had lost at the young age of 23. The card however was well received and caused a few emotions.

I designed this card using tilda stamps, one at normal size the other I scanned and shrunk, both have been water coloured and then I added glossy essentials to give some shine. I used GBS for the rectangles.

Challenge - Animal Shelter

The Limelight challenge for the month of May / June is open for all to participate in is to design for the animal shelters, as I live in the UK all creative designs delivered to myself are going to go to 'The Dogs Trust', it is a well known shelter providing temporary accomodation for dogs that have been given up, strays or dogs that have been mistreated.

I'm calling all crafters to come and assist in making scrap-pages; cards and bookmarks or any other creative designs as donations for the shelters to sell, all funds go to the shelter to assist them in providing food, warmth and constant care to the dogs during their stay until they are re-homed. They never put a dog down! If your interested then please leave me or Gracie a message. Are you up for the challenge? Give a little, show you care and support this worthy challenge.

This challenge is open worldwide, for any animal shelter, you can e-mail Gracie or participate in your own community. Alls we ask if you do participate in your own community, that we'd love to know what you did & like to view your creative talent, so please take pictures and send them in.

Mini Tilda on handbag shaped cards

I had some images of Magnolia Tilda but didn't want them at their actual size for these cards so the were scanned and made smaller then printed using a photo printer so the edges of the ink wouldn't run! I used the cricut just to cut basic shapes, rectangle, ovals, circles etc.. and I also used the cuttlebug embossing folders to the layering behind the Tilda images.

Folded an A4 sheet of card into 2, marked in 3 cms in along the fold and cut to the outer corner on each side to get the shape. Used GBS to make the circle for the flap. Card was sewn to give the hand stitched look, added a few embellishments and wahlah!
